Catmere End, Saffron Walden

This was an enjoyable project from start to finish, with our clients looking to build a new eco house in their garden, before selling their existing property. The timber frame house arrived already constructed and insulated, and was erected by the sub-contracted firm once we had completed the groundworks.

The house required a great attention to detail because it needed to be completely airtight. The  heating system was an air source heat pump and a heat recovery system.

We loved the fact that half the house was cladded in aesthetically excellent Siberian larch, and we also collaborated with our client (who is an artist) to shape thick stone and slate into basin worktops in the bathrooms.

The project contract was for 12 months and we managed to make enough savings for our client that by the end they could also build an additional two-storey garage and workshop.
